Police Arrest 56 Suspected Armed Robbers Cult Members At Imota, Emuren
Not less than 56 suspected armed robbers, cult members were arrested by the Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command between Friday 5th and Sunday 7th March 2021.
The suspects were arrested at Imota, Igbokuta, Adamo, and Emure in Ikorodu during a sting operation carried out by the Commissioner of Police Strike Force, the Police Spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said.
Fifty suspects were arrested in Ikorodu, that is, 38 males and 12 females.
According to the PPRO, those arrested include Oladunni Abiodun, 20; Dosumu Oluwaseun, 22; Segun Adelaja, 29; the 26-year-old wife of the Number 1 of Aye Confraternity in Igbokuta, Gbamila Iyabo. She was arrested with one pump action loaded with eight rounds of ammunition.
The 29-year-old wife of the Number 1 of Aye Confraternity in Emure, Salisu Islamiyat, was also arrested with a locally-made pistol with some live cartridges.
Abiodun Abbey, aka Oju Ogunle, alleged to have killed more than 22 people in Ikorodu area, and 44 others were also arrested.
Other items recovered from them include guns, live ammunition and cartridges, assorted charms, berets with Confraternity logos, paraphernalia of office of Confraternity, and some dangerous weapons.
Six suspected cultists were also arrested at the Ibeju-Lekki area of the State by the Police Operatives attached to Elemoro Division.
The suspects are Adeyemi Hassan, Adesoye Yusuf, Yusuf Sadiku, Isaila Adebanjo, ex-convict, and leader of Aye Confraternity, Mosuru Ojo, and Tajudeen Ramon.
Arrangements have been made by the Lagos State Government to hasten the prosecution of the cases.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has put all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers in the State on their toes to ensure that the State is free of cultism, crimes, and criminality.
